A Room for Unbecoming Women is a group exhibition that creates an imagined intimate space for exploring diverse experiences of femininity, identity, and selfhood. Bringing together works by women and non-binary artists, the exhibition invites reflection on forms of becoming that exist beyond conventional expectations of femininity.
Through painting, objects, sculpture, installation, and interdisciplinary practices, the gallery is reimagined as a personal and shared space that is shaped by memory, everyday experiences, material encounters, and individual narratives. Visitors are invited into this room as guests: to listen, to feel, and to engage with the works through emotional, sensory, and embodied experiences.
Presented at Gallery 1, ASC Handbag Factory, A Room for Unbecoming Women is an independent curatorial project by Nest-A Lab, founded and curated by Emma Xinyan Gu.
