Event Details:

Desire has long shaped artistic expression, influencing how artists represent the body, beauty, and identity across time. Desire Unbound explores how the meaning of desire has shifted from the idealised forms of Renaissance mythology and the sensuality of Rococo painting to the psychological explorations of Surrealism and the critical perspectives of contemporary art.

Tracing a movement from externally constructed ideals toward introspective and socially aware interpretations, the exhibition brings together works that engage with the body, memory, and imagination. In contemporary practice, desire is reconsidered through questions of identity, power, and representation.

By placing historical references in dialogue with current artistic responses, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on desire as a complex and evolving force that continues to shape both artistic production and human experience.
