Gallery Hire in London for Artists & Curators

Looking for an exhibition space in London to realise your curatorial vision or present a solo exhibition? Discover the Handbag Factory.

Situated in the vibrant Vauxhall, South London, the Handbag Factory operates as a dynamic centre for artistic engagement, collaboration and experimentation. Since opening in 2023, it has hosted over 50 exhibitions across its three gallery spaces, fostering dialogue and creativity within a diverse artistic community.

Managed by ASC (Artists Studio Company), our galleries and Coworking spaces are designed to promote accessibility and affordability within the visual arts. The hire of Gallery 1 and Gallery 2 is exempt from VAT and offered at some of the most subsidised rates in London. This provides artists with the opportunity to present their work in a professional and supportive environment. Additionally, ASC Gallery functions as a dedicated, free and open canvas for ASC tenants, encouraging artistic experimentation and the development of new ideas.

This approach is part of ASC’s wider mission to sustain a vibrant community of artists and makers across London through affordable workspaces. As a result, the Handbag Factory has rapidly established itself as an important platform for contemporary art, cultural exchange and creative collaboration.

Our Gallery Spaces Available for Hire

The Handbag Factory maintains its distinctive industrial heritage, preserving an authentic and adaptable aesthetic that is highly sought after by contemporary practitioners.

Bright, open interior of a contemporary art gallery (Gallery 1) with white walls, high ceilings, large windows, and various paintings and sculptures on display.

Spanning an impressive 1,440 square feet, Gallery 1 offers a spacious environment ideally suited to ambitious, large-scale installations, group exhibitions and art fairs. The 13-foot (4-metre) high walls afford a dramatic sense of scale, enabling artists to produce and present work with maximum visual impact and conceptual freedom.

Occupying 730 square feet within the building’s central atrium, Gallery 2 is characterised by a striking skylight ceiling that floods the space with consistent, natural light. This illumination makes the gallery ideal for paintings, photographic works and light-sensitive or finely detailed installations.

Established in 2010, ASC Gallery presents a curated programme of exhibitions, talks, and creative events throughout the year, created primarily for ASC tenants to showcase their work. Over the years, the gallery has been hosted in several venues and is now based at ASC’s creative hub and main office, The Handbag Factory.

Both galleries function as versatile, neutral spaces, a true blank canvases that grant artists full autonomy over the installation, lighting and presentation of their work.
